About us
The Diocesan Museum of Ortona was opened to the public on December 13, 2003, and is among the most important museums of sacred art in the region. It is housed in three large rooms, which were formerly chapels, inside the Cathedral of Saint Thomas the Apostle.
The museum preserves valuable evidence of the religious heritage recovered after the tragic wartime events of the last world conflict, which severely damaged many of the city’s churches.
It also features silverworks, stone artifacts, liturgical furnishings, a small numismatic collection, and a section of archaeological finds.
Through this diverse collection, visitors can follow an itinerary of faith and explore the history of the region.
